Does time matter or is it relative? A short op ed on the Kavanaugh accusations

The ability to think critically is important. Rape and abuse is crippling. It’s embarrassing, destroys your self worth, and is isolating.
Coming forward outside of your friends to family let alone to the public is tough.
I’m going to speak specific to this Kavanaugh case. An accomplished professional woman comes forward after seeing her abuser on tv. Her life and that of her family is threatened. She has to go into hiding and take leave from work. She names two people who were there. Bold considering that if they weren’t, they would certainly say so. Neither says it didn't happen only that they don’t recall. Neither was asked under oath. As we have seen time and time again witnesses and victims are investigated to find anything in their past to make them look like they have no credibility so even when someone does see something they have every reason in the world not to speak up. Just ask Ronald and Nancy Regan's daughter Patti Davis.
Less than 24 hours after a list of over 60 women surfaces saying he didn’t do it or that he wouldn’t have done it. That’s a lot of quick action to get those letters together that quickly.
Due process means we investigate and fact gather. No exceptions. We don’t even consistently do that.
The Supreme Court nominee belonged to a frat that made a flag of women’s panties that by all accounts they aggressively obtained and in some cases obtained by stealing while women were in class. They stood outside a women’s institution on the Yale campus and yelled that no meant yes and yes meant anal. He also was part of a now disbanded secret for seniors only sect of the frat called Truth and Courage. The members referred to it by another name: Tits and Clits. (please edit as necessary here as I know it is not appropriate for the paper)
What kind of person belongs to a frat like that? So as I evaluate this situation. There should absolutely be an investigation. She should absolutely be heard and every single person who wrote letters about their experiences with him who say they know him should have to testify under oath as should everyone who wrote in to talk about his activities with that frat.
To do anything less is unacceptable. Investigate and let the chips fall where they may. What happens in the dark always comes to light. The investigation will just open the door. Any skeletons will fall out on their own.
As far as the Democrats, that has nothing to do with her. Don’t let the political pettiness, drama, and mud slinging cloud your judgement. Tying this women or any other to any one parties political strategy to victory is irresponsible.
You don’t have to believe in #metoo or the statement “believe her” to agree that matters like this must be taken seriously and investigated. If you don’t agree, than you are a hypocrite. Plain and simple.
Since the posting of this blog post new information has come to light which makes what I am saying all the more relevant in this writers opinion. All of this guessing and fabrication of lies is not fooling everyone. We are not cats chasing a red ball. We remember what Christine Blasey Ford said and we expect an investigation for answers.

Tax Revenue Allocation

I posted this meme earlier today on Facebook and a friend of mine asked the question, "What tax revenue? Isn't the US already $18 trillion in debt now? It is a good question. I thought about it and decided to blog.  Tax revenue? Yes, we have it. Here is what I believe the problem to be. First of all, we do allocate tax dollars. The problem is what we allocate it to, secondary to the problem of spending without a plan. In the business world, at least with a successful business, your budget is usually flat. What does that mean? It means that there is not enough to do everything that you want to do. You have to pick and choose but also you look for ways to get things done. For example, waste. There are several types of waste and by reducing these types of waste it can be a huge cost savings, especially over time. That cost savings can they be used to build infrastructure, upgrade facilities, or update computer systems for example. Our government, as most of us know, virtu...

Judicial system reform

Like it or not, even with reform, the police are not going anywhere. While I do think reform needs to be on a Federal level. There is also work that needs to be done at the local and city level as well in conjunction with that reform. Each community is different, faces a variety of distance challenges and so it requires a different lens from place to place. This is not an attack on police officers. Of course there are the ones who do their job with integrity and uphold the law and citizens they swore to protect. But we are not talking about them. We are talking about the other officers. The ones who use muscle memory as an excuse to shoot someone, the ones who show up and start shooting and asking questions later, the ones who profile. On the topic of reform and integration police need to be properly integrated into the community that they serve. If I sat here long enough, I could think of a laundry list of things, but at the most basic and human level of things, reform needs to inc...

The Flint Crisis-Who is to blame?

Today’s topic starts with another inappropriate apology. We all know the present crisis of contaminated water and lead poisoning among Flint residents. But let’s peel back the onion a bit here. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder   gave a   State of the State address   Tuesday night, following remarks he made a day earlier on how he's made mistakes in handling the   Flint, Mich., water crisis. "I'm sorry and I will fix it," Snyder said near the opening of his speech, directly addressing the residents of Flint. "Government failed you at the federal, state and local level." And…pause. First of all a mistake is an understatement. Secondly, it was local officials who made the decision to change the water source so why add higher government into the mix as far as failures? By his own admittance, he never called a state of emergency to ask for Federal help. This issue really came to a head and received national attention from local residents speaking out, fili...
