                                      Does time matter or is it relative? A short op ed on the Kavanaugh accusations The ability to think critically is important. Rape and abuse is crippling. It’s embarrassing, destroys your self worth, and is isolating. Coming forward outside of your friends to family let alone to the public is tough. I’m going to speak specific to this Kavanaugh case. An accomplished professional woman comes forward after seeing her abuser on tv. Her life and that of her family is threatened. She has to go into hiding and take leave from work. She names two people who were there. Bold considering that if they weren’t, they would certainly say so. Neither says it didn't happen only that they don’t recall. Neither was asked under oath. I am still unpacking last year when I ran for City Council in Minneapolis. I will continue to share as time goes on. The 3rd Ward race was exciting and I learned many things. One thing is for sure. I am not bitter even though I easily could have allowed myself to be. I still ended up at City Hall. My desire was to be doing this work and making a difference in our City and I am still doing that. It may not be in the position I wanted it to be but I am in a position and I am thrilled to be doing the work. In fact, many boundaries are broken that no one knows of.
